4. Jetta
Jetta is a Chinese automotive brand built by Volkswagen Group with its joint venture partner FAW Group in 2019. This brand’s mission is to produce modern economy-class cars that are high quality, safe, and, most importantly, affordable.
Volkswagen Jetta, a compact car, is the basis of the Jetta automotive company. This ride is trendy in China and is even available in North American markets. All the Jetta cars are built in Chengdu, China, at an FAW-Volkswagen joint venture plant. The company has a vision and it is set to build first editions of VA3 sedan, VS5 compact SUV, and VS7 SUV.
5. JAC
JAC Group is another Chinese automaker that starts with the letter J. Founded in 1964, JAC is well known for manufacturing commercial vehicles, buses, trucks, electric vehicles, and many automotive components.
Currently, the company is headquartered in Hefei, China, and is owned by JAG. In the last decade, JAC has gone through many transitions. This brand has several product lines. The Heyue is for sedans, hatchbacks, MPVs, and SUVs, and the Refine is for large MPVs/minivans and vans.

6. JAWA
JAWA is a Czechoslovakian manufacturer of motorcycles and mopeds. This automotive brand was founded in 1929 and is headquartered in Týnec nad Sázavou, Czechia. JAWA introduced its first car, the JAWA 700, based on the DKW (German car and motorcycle marque) in 1934. The modified JAW 600 Minor was introduced in 1937. The production of these models continued in limited numbers throughout WWII and some even post-war.
In the 1950s, JAWA was one of the biggest motorcycle manufacturers. It produced 350 models and exported each to over 120 countries. The 350 Pérák and 350 Californian are the best-known models of this maker. With significant loss in production, a successor company named JAWA Moto was formed in 1997.
7. Joest
Joest Racing is a sports car racing team established in 1978 by former Porsche works racer Reinhold Joest. The factory is headquartered in Wald-Michelbach, Germany, and has competed in several racing events like the Le Mans series. Apart from participating in races, this nameplate has also produced some impressive racing cars, namely,
- Joest 935/78, which competed in 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Jetour is a tradename of the Chinese vehicle manufacturer Chery Automobile. It was established in 2018 and focuses primarily on making crossovers and SUVs. Jetstream is a British sports car maker founded by John Donnelly in Cornwall, England. This car company is known for producing high-performance sports cars. 10. Joss
Joss Developments Limited was founded in 1998 by Matt Thomas, a former Formula One designer with a vision to build Australia’s first supercar. However, due to high development and production costs, it never made it past the prototype.
11. Jensen
Jensen Motors was a British automobile manufacturer founded in 1934 by two brothers, Alan and Richard Jensen. However, due to funding, marketing competition, and poor economic conditions in Japan, the Caspita never went into mass production. Only a few prototypes were built.
14. Jösse Car
Jösse Car was a sports car maker in Arvika, Sweden, founded in 1994. This now-defunct brand is most famous for creating the two-seat open-top Indigo 3000, a compact sports car produced from 1996 to 2000. Indigo 3000 was powered by a 3.0 liter six-cylinder Volvo engine with a rear-wheel drive powertrain, which gave it a top speed of 155 mph. Jösse shut down its operations in 2000.
15. Jowett
Jowett Cars is another bygone automobile maker from Britain that worked from 1901 to 1954. This company was founded by two brothers who initially started by making bicycles and later transitioned to constructing light cars and commercial vehicles.
The Eight, Javelin, and Jupiter are the most notable models produced by this brand. However, like many other companies, producing innovative and well-regarded vehicles was insufficient. The production issues, tough competition, and post-war economy led to the company’s closure in 1954.
16. JPX do Brasil Ltda.
JPX do Brasil Ltda. was a Brazilian car maker established by entrepreneur Eike Batista in 1992. The company was founded with the goal of rugged off-road vehicles suitable for the Brazilian market.
The JPX Montez was the company’s flagship model. It was designed to handle the challenging terrain of Brazil, and it was a true off-road vehicle.Despite building something that was meant for locals, JPX do Brasil struggled due to
- tough competition from already established brands like Jeep and Land Rover
- fluctuating Brazil’s economy in the 1990s
- high production costs.
With so many challenges in its way, JPX do Brasil struggled a lot, which led to the company’s demise in 2002.
17. Juwel
Juwel was a German car maker founded in the 1920s. This small company was part of the burgeoning automotive industry in Europe, where many enterprises experimented with their designs and engineering concepts. Juwel was focused on producing small cars, which were highly popular in Europe after World War I due to their practicality and affordability. The Juwel 4/20 PS was one of the company’s main models.
However, the rough economic times of the 1920s and 1930s, intense competition from fellow small automakers, and high production costs made it hard for Juwel to operate. The company did not survive past the early 1930s.
18. JBA Motors
JBA Motors was a car maker based in Norfolk, England. The company was initially named JBA Engineering. The part JBA came from the first letter of the surnames of its three founders, and the part Engineering from the fact that all three founders were engineers at British Leyland.
This automaker specialized in producing British pre-World War II automobiles such as the JBA Falcon, JBA Sports SRi, and JBA Falcon TSR. One of the founders left the company around the 1990s; however, the remaining two held the reins until 2004. Tim Banwell bought the company in 2004, put it up for sale in 2006, and then in 2007, JBA Motors went into administration.
19. Jordan
Jordan Motor Company was an American car maker founded in 1916 in Cleveland, Ohio. The company became defunct in 1931, but up until then, it produced assembled cars using components from other car manufacturers. Jordan cars became popular for their attractive styling instead of their advanced engineering. 20. Jeecy-Vea
Jeecy-Vea Automobile was produced by Ateliers Veuve C. Juyck, a car company based in Brussels, Belgium. It was one of the many small European manufacturers that emerged during the early 20th century. The Jeecy-Vea cars were one of the company’s most popular builds. They were known for their unique engineering and design characteristics.
Despite such popularity, the Jeecey-Vea cars were produced from 1925 to 1926. The company faced financial challenges and market competition and officially halted its operations in 1927.
